ALC sees 28 women move forward to logistics graduation
THE AUSTRALIAN Logistics Council (ALC) has celebrated 28 Queensland women graduating in Toowoomba from its second national Women Moving Forward mentoring program.
Ninety-eight women across Australia have participated in the 10-week program designed to further women’s skills in the transport and logistics industry and bolster the sector’s female participation rate – currently 23.7% in Queensland.
Mentoring graduate Melissa Taylor, general manager of the Toowoomba-based family business Taylor’s Removals, was among the women who praised the program.
“I have a great interest in women in transport, not only from a personal perspective, but also as the first woman to hold a management position in this company – the knowledge gained and shared during the mentoring was highly beneficial,” Ms Taylor said.
The ALC initiated the program in partnership with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, which has sponsored 10 women from small transport and logistics businesses in regional Queensland.
Intakes are currently open for the forthcoming July program.
