LONDON broker Braemar Seascope has reported strong interest in the dry bulk sale and purchase market, as buyers with ready cash look to capitalise on falling ship values.
When a ship came up for sale in the secondhand market, Braemar had at least two or three strong buyers looking to put to offers in, Braemar chief executive officer Alan Marsh said.
The biggest buyers were the Chinese, but Brazilian iron ore producer Vale was also interested in buying ships. Vale has purchased five bulk carriers in 2009.
