Tui spill play fails
OHN Fredriksen’s attempt to increase his influence in Europe’s largest tourism company, Tui, has failed.
At Tui’s annual meeting last week, shareholders overwhelmingly rejected his bid to oust two key members of the Tui board.
Around 65% of shareholders voted against chairman Jurgen Krumnow being dropped from the board.
Mr Fredriksen, who has an 18% stake in the company, had proposed that Mr Krumnow and supervisory board member Abel Matutes Juan be dropped.
He wanted the shareholders to appoint himself and business partner Tor Olav Troim in their place.
Mr Fredriksen also failed in his bid to launch an investigation into the sale of Hapag-Lloyd shipping line.
