PORT Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) will cut export capacity through the port of Newcastle next month in a bid to reduce the size of the queue off the port.
The terminal operator expects the number of waiting ships to reach 31 by the end of the month.
The 1m tonne cut to capacity comes as the Hunter coal chain battles coal availability issues from the region’s mines, as well as disruptions caused by emergency trackwork and bad weather.
