GERMAN container line Hapag-Lloyd will introduce reduced working hours for part of its German staff in May to trim its wage bill.
Hapag-Lloyd spokesman Klaus Heims said that short-time working would initially last for six months.
Mr Heims said that it was still unclear how many of Hapag-Lloyd’s German employees would be affected. The carrier has some 1,000 staff in Germany.
In Germany, reduced working hours are used as a measure to avoid redundancies.
