Esperance port accepts $525,000 fine

A Western Australian court has fined Esperance Ports $525,000 for its role in the lead and nickel contamination incident which hit the port in early 2007.

  

Esperance Ports had pleaded guilty to two charges of causing pollution, two of failing to notify the Department of Environment and Conservation director-general of the discharge of the waste, a charge of emitting an unreasonable nickel odour and a charge...
