Evergreen sees red in struggling box market

Evergreen Marine Corp, Taiwan’s largest container shipping line, plunged deeper into the red after posting a net loss of almost T$7.3bn (US$224m) for the first nine months of this year following the ongoing slump in the box trades.

This compared with a net profit of nearly T$1.5bn in the same period last year.

Revenue was down to T$11.3bn in the first nine months, against T$17.4bn a year earlier.

The figures compare with a T$4.7bn net loss on revenue of T$7.7bn...
