A paramedic and an Australian Helicopters crewman both suffered multiple injuries when they fell to the deck of the 4112 teu Maersk Duffield yesterday afternoon.

The Torres Strait incident occurred when a winch malfunctioned aboard the helicopter as the men prepared to board her to treat a seafarer suffering cardiac problems, an Australian Maritime Safety Authority spokeswoman said this morning.
