Take up Rotterdam Rules, lawyer urges

Australia faces being stuck with an antiquated regime of maritime laws that could see it fall out of touch with its major trading partners, a leading maritime lawyer has warned.

Stuart Hetherington, a partner at law firm Colin Biggers & Paisley, said it was in Australia’s interests, as a modern trading nation, to back the so-called Rotterdam Rules.
