Seacorp expands WA office network

by Rob McKay last modified Nov 16, 2009 11:22 AM

Sea Corporation (Seacorp) is to expand its regional office network with new permanent branches in Albany, Geraldton and Esperance.

The Fremantle-based shipbroking, ship agency and vessel operating company has serviced the ports since 1998 but has now sought a permanent presence.

Seacorp managing director Craig Thompson said the company planned to provide a comprehensive one-stop service for shippers in these regions.

The Albany branch would be run by Ron Lovering, a shipping industry stalwart with over 30 years experience in ship agency and vessel operations.

Master mariner Sunil Fernando would manage Seacorp’s Geraldton branch and master mariner Lukshman Tissera would manage Seacorp’s Esperance branch.

Mr Thompson said both men joined Seacorp several months ago and had undergone extensive additional training to prepare them for their branch roles.

"Seacorp is the only ship agency provider in the Pilbara that has focused on employing master mariners as shipping agents,” he added.

"This innovation, which has been well received by customers, is now being replicated at Fremantle, Geraldton and Esperance.

"We have great faith in the future viability of these ports and the potential of the regions generally."
