May hearing for Pacific Adventurer master
Pacific Adventurer master Bernardino Gonzales Santos will face a five-day committal hearing in Brisbane from May 10 next year, a Swire spokeswoman confirmed today.
This follows the March spill of bunker oil in southeast Queensland.
The committal hearing will determine if Capt Santos should face trial on charges of disposal of oil in coastal waters and failure to notify authorities of the incident.
The hearing date was set down at the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday.
Capt Santos was not required to appear at yesterday's hearing, the spokeswoman said.
He has been allowed to continue working outside Australia after his employer, Swire Shipping, pledged that he would return to face the charges.
