Australia's transport industry has to abandon its obsession with seeking more funding and re-focus its thinking on better long-term planning, Infrastructure Australia chief executive Michael Deegan told Rail Express.

With significant federal funding having already been distributed on the recommendations of Infrastructure Australia, Mr Deegan said the expenditure allocated following the second round of submissions would be unlikely to satisfy the applicants.
