Drought will curb grain receivals, says GrainCorp
Drought conditions in parts of eastern Australia will likely cause a 16% decline in grain receivals in the 2009/10 financial year, Graincorp said.
The grain handler's full-year earnings presentation yesterday showed receivals would likely be 8m-9m tonnes in the 12 months ending September 30, compared with 10.7m tonnes a year earlier.
Grain receivals year-to-date stood at 4.5m tonnes.
