China cargo volumes up to pre-crash levels again

CARGO throughput at China’s major ports has recovered to a similar level before last year’s global financial crisis thanks to China’s Yuan4,000bn (US$588bn) economic stimulus package, the Ministry of Transport said.

China’s ports saw cargo volumes rise 14.9% year on year to a total of 610m tonnes in September. This rebound boosted total cargo throughput for the first nine months of this year to 5.1bn tonnes, equal to a year-on-year increase...
