Dutch call for level playing field for shipbuilding firms

DUTCH prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende has rejected criticism that his government has been too slow in offering support to the country’s shipbuilding industry.

At the official opening ceremony of the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam, chairman of the Maritime Innovation Council Sjef van Dooremalen called for a level playing field, adequate financing facilities and support for innovation and sustainability.
