APL Sydney decision an 'international landmark'

The Port Phillip Bay pipeline damages case involving the container ship, APL Sydney, has produced what was described today as a "landmark judgment of international significance".

Justice Raymond Finkelstein of the Federal Court has ruled that claims for pure economic loss were subject to limitation under the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims 1976.
