Ex-Perkins ship lost explosives, frozen chickens

Ships transiting waters north-west of Papua New Guinea have been told to be on the lookout for containers of explosives and others loaded with frozen chickens lost overboard from the former Perkins Shipping vessel Frances Bay.

PNG's National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) warned yesterday that vessels entering or leaving the port of Lae were advised to do so "with extreme caution" after the loss of about 11 containers from the 1627gt vessel on Saturday.
