Australia joins IOPC but Rotterdam Rules to wait

Australia has signed up to the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund (IOPC), federal transport minister Anthony Albanese said last week.
Joining the IOPC Fund raised the amount of compensation available from $380m to $1.4bn in the event of a major spill from an oil tanker, through a levy on oil importers to fund an insurance scheme for the victims...
