Federal Government to relax ban on beef imports

The Federal Government is to relax the beef import rules it implemented after several of countries reported cases of "mad cow disease" earlier in the decade.

The government's decision, which will come into force in March, was made after consultation with various experts including eminent scientist John Mathews, whose research found that the health risks from imported beef was "extremely low."
