Newcastle pilots strike imminent, says union
Pilots at the port of Newcastle have been granted permission to vote on strike action at the world's biggest coal port following a series of failed salary negotiations.
The pilots’ union, Australian Maritime Officers Union (AMOU), was today given clearance by Fair Work Australia to hold a ballot on strike action.
Fair Work Australia said voting must be completed by November 16.
AMOU director Michael Fleming warned that strike action was imminent.
