Congestion drop-off sends rates falling

CAPESIZE congestion levels have fallen to just 10% of the 900-strong fleet as Chinese iron ore imports fall and newbuilding deliveries add to the number of ships available.

There are around 24 capesizes waiting to berth outside China’s iron ore ports, with delays averaging between five and six days, according to the latest figures from London broker Simpson Spence & Young.
