Exchange trading may boost brokers
SHIPBROKERS will earn an extra £1.3bn (US$2.1bn) in revenue from freight derivatives over the next decade if the market shifts from over-the counter (OTC) to exchange trading, a London Metal Exchange (LME) scoping study concluded.
Trading volumes would double by 2015, and triple within 12 years, with the exchange also meeting stricter regulations anticipated for the US$580trn global derivatives sector from US and EU financial authorities.
