Pacific Adventurer master to face court in November

by samc last modified Sep 15, 2009 12:38 PM

The Filipino master of the Pacific Adventurer will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 16 on a charge stemming from the ship's bunker spill in March.

Captain Bernardino Gonzales Santos, 47, has been charged with disposing oil in coastal waters and could be fined up to $350,000 if found guilty.

The matter was mentioned briefly in court on Monday and adjourned to November 16.

The 25,561 dwt Pacific Adventurer spilled about 270 tonnes of fuel oil in Moreton Bay after colliding with some of the 31 containers she had lost overboard during a storm.

The ship has since be renamed Pacific Mariner.
