Hunter coal exporters have been re-granted competition approval for an interim system to regulate coal exports through the port of Newcastle until January.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) yesterday reinstated interim authorisation to the coal chain to use the scheme, which rations port capacity based on historic tonnages until a detailed, long-term plan comes into effect next year.
