Asia's mineral demand the key to growth: BHP

BHP Billiton expects a strengthening in demand from Asia will help reverse a disappointing last financial year which saw revenue drop 15% and profits dive by more than US$9bn.

The mining giant's annual report, released yesterday, showed that lower prices for its major commodities, including iron ore and coal, had hit revenue hard with net profit falling from a record US$15.4bn in 2008 to US$5.9bn.
