DB Schenker holds 2009 container traffic steady
GERMANY’s DB Schenker Logistics, the world’s third-largest freight forwarder of ocean containers, saw box traffic fall by just 2.1% in 2009 to 1.4m teu, compared with a 16% decline in air freight tonnages.
The global supply chain arm of the state-owned rail group Deutsche Bahn, suffered a 23.4% plunge in 2009 turnover to €11.3bn (US$15.1bn).
Divisional earnings before interest and tax fell 47.8% to €199m from €381m.
