A GLADSTONE Ports Corporation proposal to close the Barney Point Coal Terminal on environmental and operational grounds has been supported by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Coal dust and noise pollution have long caused concerns in Gladstone because of the terminal’s proximity to the township.
Built in 1967 and maintaining an annual throughput of about 5m tonnes, Barney Point is Gladstone’s oldest and smallest coal terminal...
