Coal & Allied’s Hunter coal output sees decline in first quarter

COAL & Allied’s Hunter Valley coal production fell 4.5% in the first quarter, figures from the Rio Tinto subsidiary show.

Thermal coal production from Coal & Allied’s wholly-owned Hunter Valley operations, near Singleton, fell to 1.9m tonnes in the three months ended March 31, from 2.2mt in the previous corresponding period, while semi-soft coking coal volumes increased 690,000t from 492,000t.
