Improvements come at a cost
EFFORTS by Papua New Guinea’s ports corporation to deal with increasing container congestion at the country’s ports have caused shipping lines to introduce new equipment-handling charges.
Carriers are no longer permitted to receive and store empties on wharves and containers can now only be delivered to the port to meet a ship in a more-defined window.
