Union protests lack of notice after seafarer succumbs with leprosy

THE LACK of reporting to port of state authorities of a case of leprosy on board a foreign-flagged ship has alarmed and angered the Maritime Union of Australia.

A Filipino seafarer on bulk carrier Agios Nikolas was admitted to Wollongong hospital in New South Wales on April 3 with suspected cases of tuberculosis and leprosy, of which leprosy had been confirmed.
The Greek-flagged ship reportedly resumed her journey...
