Long-term BHP Billiton executive Chris Campbell is to replace Ian Ashby as head of BHP Billiton's iron ore business.
Mr Ashby will to become chief executive of the proposed Pilbara iron ore joint-venture with Rio Tinto, with Mr Campbell to take over responsibility for global iron ore progressively in coming months.
BHP and Rio need competition regulator approval in Australia and Europe before the iron ore tie-up can be formalised, which the companies hope will take place later this year.
