Fatal fire ship AegeanWind was in top condition

THE ILL-FATED bulker Aegean Wind was by all reports in top condition when fire broke out on board on Christmas Day.

Details revealed by the European Commission show that the Greek-flagged, 1983-built, 38,909 dwt vessel had been inspected less than three months before the casualty and it had not been detained once over the past decade.
All paperwork was in order.
