International union joins chorus of protest on security card policy

THE FEDERAL Government has refused to debate the direction of port security policy with maritime unions.

The International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) re-entered the Australian port-security debate last week, claiming changes to Maritime Security Identification Card were misguided.
Federal transport minister Anthony Albanese said last month that the government would tighten up regulations for the card.
