Shortsea, feeder and niche container operators say their greater focus on customer care has helped them weather the slump better than the deepsea lines, writes JANET PORTER

EXTRAORDINARY as it may seem, not every container line lost a fortune last year.
A fair number of shortsea, feeder and niche carriers are emerging relatively unscathed from the worst slump in the history of containerisation.
Some even made money.
