BRITAIN has announced the winner of a £5bn (US$7.9bn) private-finance contract to run the UK search and rescue service.

 The Department for Transport awarded a 25-year contract to Soteria, a consortium made up of RBS bank, French defence contractor Thales, US helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky and CHC, a supplier of helicopter services. Soteria will work in partnership with the UK...
