AROUND 7,500 fishermen and residents in the area affected by South Korea’s worst oil spill two years ago have failed in their attempt to increase the amount of compensation paid by Samsung Heavy Industries.
The group had appealed to Seoul’s high court for the compensation limit to be raised beyond the existing cap of Won5.6bn (US$4.87m).
Rejecting the appeal, Judge Kim Yong-heon upheld a lower court’s decision, saying that Samsung should pay no more...
