Shanghai hangs onto world cargo top spot

SHANGHAI remained the world’s top cargo port last year, a position it has held for three consecutive years.
According to figures from China’s National Development and Reform Commission, Shanghai handled 590m tonnes of freight, up 1.3% on the 582m tonnes handled in 2008.
Singapore remained in second place, reporting an 8.5% drop in total cargo volumes to 471.5m...
