US container trades for slow return to growth
GROWTH will return to the US container trades this year, but the pace will be considerably slower than forecasters were anticipating a few months ago as liner bosses play down prospects of a speedy recovery.
That is the conclusion of Piers Global Intelligence Solutions in its latest issue of Trade Horizons.
US containerised imports are now expected to increase by 6.2% to 15.1m teu in 2010 after contracting by more than 16% in 2009.
