THE TASMANIAN Greens believes the state government’s move to axe rail freight services to Bell Bay will create a heavy strain on roads and businesses in the state’s north east.

Rail freight services to Bell Bay will cease at the end of January in favour of Burnie in the north-west, the Tasmanian Government announced on Friday, citing “insufficient demand” for the northern Tasmania services.
