RO-RO tonnage appears to be the best transport option available to aid groups desperately trying to assist earthquake-devastated Haiti but severely damaged port facilities remain a major obstacle.
Richard Lebrun of Terminal Varreux told the New York Times newspaper that its two terminals at Haiti’s main port, Port-au-Prince, had been destroyed.
In addition, the main commercial pier, wharf and the container crane are under water.
