Lead risk downplayed, Esperance public wary
AN INDEPENDENT report into contamination risks in Esperance has downplayed the danger to community health but has identified public concerns and the distrust of officialdom as significant issues for authorities.
The Golder Associates report, Esperance townsite human health and ecological risk assessment, was released last week, three years after the deaths of hundreds of birds revealed heavy metal contamination in the town from bulk exports.
