Shanghai box volumes rise

SHANGHAI International Port Group (SIPG), which owns China’s largest container port, reported positive growth in container volumes in December for the first time in 2009.

Box throughput rose 7.1% to 2.4m teu but the company said the increase was not enough to prevent a 10.7% slide in total container throughput to 25m teu for the full year.
Total cargo throughput soared 47.3% to 36.9m tonnes...
