Piracy can’t be tolerated: Shipping Australia
SHIPPING Australia has renewed industry calls for more effective action to be taken against Indian Ocean piracy, describing the international community’s response as “seemingly impotent”.
The organisation expressed its deepening frustration at attempts to address the continuing piracy crisis which has seen about 1,500 seafarers taken hostage and the pirates’ “mother ships” being able to operate 1,000 nautical miles from shore.
