Europe trade shows signs of recovery

CONTAINER imports from Europe into the Australia/Oceania region climbed 12% in May as the northbound volumes gave cause for optimism.

European Liner Affairs Association figures released last week show the southbound trade hit 31,800 teu in May, up from 28,374 teu for the same month in 2009.
However import volumes from Europe are still almost 20% down from May 2008.
