Japan extends counter-piracy naval patrols
JAPAN is to extend the deployment of its naval forces on counter-piracy duties off Somalia, due to end on July 23, for a further year.
The decision comes even though the ruling Democratic Party of Japan opposed the legislation necessary to facilitate the naval mission while it was in opposition.
