AS THE fourth recent injection of extra North & East Asia-Australia container capacity hits Australian ports this week, the inevitable decline in freight rates is well underway.

The 2478-teu, Hamburg Sud-chartered Antonia Schulte, the first vessel on the AAUS group’s new peak season service, is working her way through east coast ports just as the AANA (ANL, China Shipping, OOCL) and NEAX (K Line, MOL, NYK) groups...
