A sharp drop in perishables dragged down the overall volume of Australian goods exported by air in April.
Airfreight exports fell 4000 tonnes from March to about 20,000 tonnes with perishables slumping to 10,500 tonnes from 14,000 tonnes, data from freight consultants Maritrade showed.
Goods imported by air held above the trendline of 32,000 tonnes despite a drop in volumes to 32,500 tonnes in April from 38,000 in March.
International airfreight plunged 9500 tonnes from March to 52,500 tonnes.
