China’s ports on expansion drive

As the financial clouds start to lift, China’s leading port operators are busy sizing up merger and acquisition deals and joint ventures, writes HUI CHING-HOO

CHINA’s port operators are looking back after a year of anaemic financial results. Because of the global financial crisis, container throughput at the nation’s ports declined for the first time in a decade, falling by 5.8% to around 121m teu.
