Israeli aid ship attack not illegal, say experts
ISRAEL’S attack on humanitarian aid vessel Mavi Marmaris was probably legal under international law, although the Israeli Government seems confused about the basis on which it acted, shipping laws specialists told Lloyd’s List last week.
Widespread accusations of piracy are also likely to prove wide of the mark, as navies by definition cannot commit this crime, they said.
But as with all legal opinion, any contentions are open to challenge.
