THE US is planning a study into the long-term impact of the Panama Canal extension on trade through its ports.
The enlargement of the waterway’s locks will lead to larger container vessels being able to sail through Panama from the Pacific to bypass US west coast ports and deliver cargo to New York and other Atlantic destinations.
